I'm a poll watcher. I like numbers. It's occurred to me that these Hamas atrocities may be the best thing for Joe politically.

Americans loooooove their presidents when there's war and the threat of war. Just go to my 538 link and scroll down to the "How Biden compares with past presidents" section...Bush 1 and 2 in particular.

Me? I surprise myself in how strategically hawkish I've been in recent years. I opposed the Trump plan to remove troops from Afghanistan and, of course, "that feckless dementia-ridden piece of crap's" disastrous execution of the plan.

No one here has been more in favor of US support for Ukraine. My only problem is that I think that the Doddering Old Fool has been weak and inept...merely working for a slow defeat of Ukraine.

On Hamas, I've been opposed to evil on both sides but I favor the right of Israel to attack Hamas in the wake of the atrocities. Biden has surprised me on Hamas. He's been far stronger than I anticipated...the string-pullers have been, anyway.

If I'm ever contacted in a Approve/ Disapprove poll for Biden, I doubt I'll ever say that I approve, after all his failures but, gang, I have to admit that he's doing better right now that he's done in the past.

Sooner or later, he's going to have to acknowledge that Iran's the real problem in the Middle East. But, he's got time for the moment.

Anyway, Joe's popularity is lower than any president, save Carter. But, with a good war? Who knows!!!!!?

"Biden has surprised me on Hamas. He's been far stronger than I anticipated." --HtS

Admit it, you like Joe Biden! He's way better than that guy who said that Hezbollah is "very smart". Anyway, you seem to warming up to Uncle Joe. You may not like his yet, but Joe likes you.

You realize that it's up to Congress, not the President, to release funds for Ukraine or any other expenditure. They hold the proverbial purse strings. It will be interesting to see what happens when Jim Jordan or some other GOP goon as speaker refuses to give Ukraine any financial support. Then any defeat of Ukraine is the fault of Republicans.

You wish, Curt. I've splained that Joe reminds me of my dad as he descended into dementia.

And, I know that Trump is despicable.

What I don't know is if you can even imagine not going Good German on Joe. He's funneling moolah to his Swamp friends in the military industrial complex.

Right now Joe's -14 in approval. If he gets to -5, pb'll be shocked.

HtS, You seemed to be complaining that Biden isn't helping the Ukraine enough. I took that to mean that he's not been giving Ukraine enough weaponry to defeat Russia. Now you complain that Biden "funneling moolah to his Swamp friends in the military industrial complex". Well duh, where else are armaments for Ukraine supposed to come from if not from American manufacturers of military equipment? Anyway most of what we have sent Ukraine is from our MIC munition stockpiles, some of which needs to be replenished and updated.

How about germany? or any of the other NATO Nations???? Really?

We arm every war because that's the only manufacturing we have left in this country. We are the only true "death merchants" in the world.

    OD,
My point wasn't about where Ukraine might get weaponry, but where Biden would. HtS complained that Biden is supporting the military industrial complex while simultaneously complaining that Biden isn't doing enough to help Ukraine with armaments and other military items.

  7. by HatetheSwamp on October 17, 2023 12:46 pm

And, pb's point is that Joe's policy seems to be to support Ukraine just enuff so that it can't win, presumably so as to create an essentially permanent market for our military industrial complex.

    Joe'sastooge.
